Currency ATM at new Ebbsfleet International Station
ICE and Raphaels Bank offer fast access to Euros for Eurostar travellers

Following the opening in November 2007 of Ebbsfleet International as Eurostar’s second station, based in Kent, leading foreign exchange specialists, Raphaels Bank and sister company International Currency Exchange (ICE), have been awarded the contract to operate the ‘landside’ ATM and foreign exchange bureaux at the station. Together they will be providing the million potential travellers expected to pass through the station with easy access to Euros either via ATM or at the bureaux.

Raphaels Bank’s Euro cash machine at Ebbsfleet will be in addition to their machines at the new St Pancras International station, providing Eurostar passengers with more facilities for a seamless journey to France and Belgium. Now travellers can avoid queuing and paying commission on Euros, as well as saving on charges of up to 10% on cash withdrawn at ATMs overseas.

In addition, the new ICE bureaux will give travellers the convenience of buying their Euros just before going through customs and travelling to European destinations such as Brussels, Lille and Paris. In-bound travellers will also be able to easily exchange Euros into sterling when they arrive in the UK.

Based in Dartford, Ebbsfleet International station will operate the second section of the high-speed link and is expected to be used by more than one million travellers a year. The station consists of a modern steel and glass building with facilities for fast check-in and train boarding with nearly half of all Eurostar services stopping here. The Raphaels ATM means travellers can quickly gain access to Euros from the first train to the last, for the ultimate in convenience.

“Raphaels Bank installed the UK’s first external high street foreign currency ATM in Dundee in 2007 and this new contract further strengthens our market leading position” says Mike Smith, Group Director of Marketing & Strategy at ICE and Raphaels Bank.  “The ICE bureaux offers travellers even more choice, as well as a competitive and efficient service. This contract at Ebbsfleet adds to the presence of both brands at St Pancras International, further building on our commitment to providing travellers with easy and convenient ways to get their travel money.”
