Olympic fever is taking hold, as International Currency Exchange (ICE) reports online orders for the local Chinese currency- the Yuan Renminbi (CNY) - are up 40% on last year. ICE is advising travellers heading to the Olympics that there's still time to order their Chinese currency and have it delivered to their home before they head East. This will save travellers the stress of changing money at the airport as well as ensure they get a great rate.
"With the Olympics just around the corner, we're seeing a huge increase in orders for Chinese Yuan" explains Andrew Hamilton, Head of Marketing for ICE. "The current exchange rate means travellers can get 12.7495 CNY for their pound, offering great value. In addition, our fast, convenient online service at www.iceplc.com makes ICE the right choice for savvy travellers".
There are some import and export restrictions on currency in China. Only 6,000 CNY can be taken in or out of China and amounts over $5,000 or equivalent must be declared. Foreign currency up to the amount imported and declared can be taken out of the country at the end of a trip. Hong Kong Dollars and all major currencies can all be exchanged inside China, but travellers should change any unused CNY back to Sterling before they leave.
To order online in advance of heading to the airport, customers can simply log on to www.iceplc.com, select the currency and then select free home delivery for no queues and no fuss (on orders of £300 or more). From travellers cheques to foreign currency, ICE provides the ultimate online exchange service at minimum cost and maximum convenience.
"Our online service means that fans heading to China for the Olympics can buy their Chinese Yuan at the click of a button, saving time and money" confirmed Andrew Hamilton. "Alternatively, travellers flying into any major Chinese airport, just have to look for the ICE logo at one of our many exchange bureaux there to buy their currency from a friendly face and a recognised brand, allowing them more time to enjoy the Games."
ICE is a well-established brand in the Asian region, offering the same great service at 20 branches across China. Part of a worldwide network of 320 branches, ICE branches can be found at three terminals in Beijing Airport, as well as eight other Chinese international airports and a Shanghai train station - delivering a fast, friendly exchange service at home and abroad. |
