Jamaica is currently the best destination for the Pound based on recent currency movements according to international currency exchange experts - ICE, www.iceplc.com. Analysis of exchange rate fluctuations since the start of 2009 has revealed that the value of the Pound against the Jamaican Dollar has increased almost 24%.
Following close behind is the Icelandic Krona against which the Pound has jumped in value by almost 23% since the start of the year. The Polish Zloty comes in third place in the ICE league table for value with an increase of 19% since January, followed by the Hungarian Florint with a rise in value of almost 17%. The Chinese Yuan is in 5th place with the Pound buying 12.7% more Yuan since the start of the year.
Andrew Hamilton, Head of Marketing for ICE said: "Jamaica offers the best of a lot of worlds for holidaymakers - sun, great beaches and fantastic value against the Pound. But closer to home we're seeing some real holiday hot spots emerge offering fantastic value for money - notably Croatia, Turkey and Bulgaria. This is substantiated by the orders we are receiving for currencies for these countries which have increased massively at the start of the summer season. Orders for the Turkish lira from ICE have risen 112% while Croatian Kuna orders are 101% up on average. The Pound may be struggling against the Euro and US Dollar (although it has recovered a bit since the start of the year) but it's clear from our analysis that there are still plenty of destinations where UK travellers can make their money go further."
