About the Qatari Riyal
The Qatari Riyal is divided into 100 dirham and was officially introduced in 1966. Prior to this, Qatar had used the Indian Rupee, but due to the Indian Rupee losing its value, both Qatar and Dubai introduced the Riyal as their own shared currency. Only seven years later, Qatar began to issue their own version of the currency after Dubai joined the United Arab Emirates.
