The Canary Islands are king when it comes to grabbing a bargain pre-Christmas winter break, according to recent research.
They came out top in the survey, which compared the standard costs for a family of four in 29 winter sun destinations around the world.
It was revealed that the two sun-soaked Spanish islands of Fuerteventura and Tenerife offer the best value for money.
For each destination, the survey looked at the cost of rented accommodation, car hire, basic groceries and one dinner out for a family of four on a week-long trip.
In Fuerteventura, the total for all these items came to £525, while in Tenerife it totted up to £574.
At the other end of the scale, the Caribbean destinations of Turks and Caicos and Barbados cost £3,952 and £2,095 respectively.
For those feeling a little more adventurous, the total in Goa, India, was just £606, with Sharm el Sheikh in Egypt costing only slightly more at £608.
Visitors to Goa can also enjoy the cheapest meals at just £21 for a dinner for two, while Tenerife offers the cheapest car hire at £89 for a week.
Dubai was the most expensive place to go out for drinks, with two beers coming to a whopping £22.
