Pigs in the Bahamas...

At ICE we’re passionate about travel, and no one more so than our UK General Manager, Louis Bridger.

A few years ago, Louis was travelling through the Exuma Cays in the Bahamas, when he came across Pig Beach: an island populated by wild swimming pigs.

Discovered several years ago by photographer Jim Abernathy, it’s thought the pigs were dropped off by a group of sailors who intended to come back and eat them, but never returned. Others believe the pigs were survivors of a shipwreck.

The truth is, no one really knows how they got there, but now they’re here, the pigs are living their best lives: sleeping in the sun, eating off the land, and swimming in the island’s freshwater springs. They’ve also become something of an Instagram sensation, with tourists able to tour the island and even swim alongside the pigs.

At ICE, we want to help you discover all the weird and wonderful things the world has to offer. With our competitive rates and hassle-free service, we make exchanging currency simple, so you can focus on the important stuff (like swimming pigs).
